Cradle Mountain from Hobart in a day - easy as 1,2,3

Step 1: Get up early and be picked up in our warm and comfortable bus. We will come to you. Feel free to doze as we head up through the Midlands, but be warned, Sunrise over the mountains and fields is so beautiful, you will be hypnotised with the changing colours. Enjoy breakfast in charming Deloraine, and then the final stretch to Cradle Mountain via Sheffield is only 90 minutes and you are now a million miles away from your everyday.

Step 2: We are now inside Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park late morning, at about the same time as other groups from the North are arriving. We have up to 5 hours to walk, hike, explore, relax and enjoy a truly majestic Natural wonder and carefully managed Wilderness “Park.” If the conditions are good, that means dry, and this is often, then there is plenty of time to hike up to Hansons’ Peak or Marions Lookout for breathtaking views. The walk itself is also incredibly rewarding. There are plenty of other walks for all levels, and the “Hero” view of Cradle Mountain is pretty easy to get to for even the slowest walker - so no excuses.

Whatever reason for visiting, or your fitness level, you will find something of great value by showing up and immersing yourself in such a beautiful and remote place that gives you a real sense of the timelessness of Nature.

Step 3: It is late afternoon, and by now you have oodles of photos to take home with you, along with a real sense of calm and wonder. The chance of wildlife encounters is always high so an affinity with living creatures has hopefully also been bolstered. Time to head back to Hobart now. Sunset over the Western Tiers as we smoothly cruise home is a lovely bookend to a full day away from modernity. We will make another stop or two for food and comfort, and sometime between 8 and 9 pm you are back home, or at your Hotel.

Yes, of course staying overnight would be wonderful, but that is not feasible for everyone.

So, if you have Cradle Mountain National Park on your Tasmanian “must visit” list, then you can now make it there from Hobart as a day trip with us.

Yes, that is correct: A Hobart to Cradle Mountain return day-trip, with National Park entry included. We will then confirm everything with you in advance so you can plan with confidence. Currently we have limited dates each week that we are running, but please contact us directly to check as we may be able to meet the date you are after.

We hope to welcome you on a Big Day Out from Hobart to Cradle Mountain soon.
